Physical Activity Interventions in Individuals with Prader-Willi Syndome (Motor Proficiency Study)

PURPOSE

The aim of this pilot study is to determine the feasibility of administering motor planning, sensory integration and motor proficiency examinations in children ages 4-7 years old who are diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), as well as age-matched controls.

PARTICIPANTS

  • 5 children diagnosed with PWS, ages 4-7 years and one parent/guardian
  • 5 children without PWS, ages 4-7 years and one parent/guardian

DESCRIPTION

Participation requires two to three visits to CSUF scheduled over two weeks.  All visits will last 1-4 hours.  Children will complete an abbreviated intelligence test and movement assessments to measure balance, coordination, agility and strength.  The parent/guardian will also complete a questionnaire.  Incentives will be provided for attending visits to CSUF.  Parents/guardians will be reimbursed for mileage at CSUF rates for all visits.
